Thought 3D printing is a thing of the future? Well, an IIT Madras based startup constructed India’s very first 3D printed house earlier this week. Let’s see how it can help us build good quality structures in less time and low cost!
Crux of the Matter
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the country’s first 3D printed house earlier this week.
- Chennai-based TVASTA Manufacturing Solutions built it on a concept imagined by former IIT-M students.
- Built in just 5 days, Nirmala said the ‘housing for all’ scheme by 2022 as stated by PM Modi was a ‘huge challenge’ in terms of meeting the deadline.
- Completed on a 600 sq. ft. area, the single-storey house has 1 bedroom, hall and kitchen, developed with ‘Concrete 3D Printing” tech.
